5 Free or Low Cost Accounting Software

So this year 2015 has just started and you promised yourself that you would start using better Accounting Software for your company, but then prices bring you back to reality? Don’t worry, we at ITQlick have brought for you a selection of five FREE Accounting Software to help you stick to your new year’s resolutions. You will find out these solutions are brought to you for free with the basics, but also with some powerful features you would expect in paid software. We have highlighted for you the pros and cons of each one, to help you make your choice:

Wave Accounting

Aimed at small businesses, it does what it promises. Fast and easy accounting, with a professional feel. Wave Accounting has all the advantages of integration with other software designed by the same company.

Pros: Thanks to its “no manual entry” feature, it can be easily integrated with other services, such as your bank account or your PayPal account, to provide you with automated accounting.

Cons: It is free and as it usually happens it’s ad-based, so you will have to deal with some ads within your accounting software.

TurboCash

TurboCash is powerful software, including all the features you could expect such as invoicing, VAT accounting, standardized reports, and statements … And all of this is free of charge and loaded with examples and guides for new users of accounting software.

Pros: It is distributed completely free, with full code, no trial, or hidden features for paid licenses only. You can download the fully functional version straight away.

Cons: It is distributed under the GPL license, so it’s only completely free for general use. If you want to purchase a business license they start at $174, not expensive, but not free.

xTuple

Fully featured and free to download, xTuple is designed for pretty much any platform you can imagine. The suite is also completely internationalized, multi-currency, and multi-language, and will work both cloud and desktop based.

Pros: It includes not only accounting but an entire suite of software for your business administration, such as Sales/Purchases, inventory control, or ERM.

Cons: Support is limited to only commercial licenses, and since xTuple includes several solutions in one, it will likely create a dependency that will make you eventually pay for support.

Adminsoft Accounts

It is the effort of one coder who decided to create a solution that meets the needs of most small businesses.  And Adminsoft Accounts did very well because it is a powerful tool that will let you keep records and track all the information you need (invoices, debts, pending income…).

Pros: It also offers some specific modules for free, designed especially for restaurants, cafes, or even retailers.

Cons: Since this project is run and designed by only one person, it will most likely lose updates in the foreseeable future. Not a big deal if you learn how to use it regularly with no issues.

FreshBooks

FreshBooks is the perfect solution for small businesses in need of Accounting Software that can help them invoice their clients and keep records of their activity while cutting off the dependence on Excell or Word.

Pros: Really powerful solution for invoicing, without the need for desktop software. It is online and web-based, so it will be useful even for self-employed people or entrepreneurs.

Cons: It is free for 30 days, and then you have to pay for licensing. It’s only $19 but there are other more complete solutions for free.
