Autodesk Inventor vs. Alternatives in 2023

Two major competitors of Autodesk Inventor are AllyCAD and RealCAD. The feature set of AllyCAD and Autodesk Inventor is very similar. For instance, both solutions offer similar animation, simulation, and documentation features. However, they differ when it comes to modeling and design features.

In the modeling and design features, Autodesk Inventor offers a few extra assembly modeling features such as large assembly design, mold design, plastic part design, and sheet metal design. On the other hand, AllyCAD offers additional advanced surfacing features that are not found on Autodesk Inventor. These features include draft analysis, freeform radiated surface, thickness analysis, and undercut analysis.

The main difference between RealCAD and Autodesk Inventor is that the former does not offer any module for sheet metal design. Another important difference is the absence of any architecture features on Autodesk Inventory, when such features are present on RealCAD. Other than these major differences, minor differences exist in the rest of the modules.

Assembly modeling features are similar on both solutions. However, RealCAD offers additional advanced surfacing features such as creation of organic shapes and planer surfaces. 2D modeling features also are quite same on both systems.
