BIM 360 Vs. STACK Takeoff & Estimating: Which is better?

Shlomi Lavi / Apr 16, 2020

Looking for the right Construction solution for your business? buyers like you are primarily concerned about the real total implementation cost (TCO), full list of features, vendor reliability, user reviews, pros and cons. in this article we compare between the 2 software products:

Vendor comparison

Autodesk: For more than 30 years, Autodesk software has helped designers, engineers, visual artists, students and makers imagine, design and create a better world. Advances in accessible 3D design and fabrication technology are disrupting the design, engineering and entertainment professions as we know them. As a result, Autodesk is expanding beyond our design roots and applying our industry insights to usher in a new era of making things. Over 100 million people use Autodesk software like AutoCAD, Revit, Maya, 3ds Max, Fusion 360, SketchBook, and more to unlock their creativity and solve important design, business and environmental challenges. Our software runs on both personal computers and mobile devices and taps the infinite computing power of the cloud to help teams around the world collaborate, design, simulate and fabricate their ideas in 3D. If you’ve ever driven a high-performance car, admired a towering skyscraper, used a smartphone, or watched a great film, you’ve experienced what Autodesk customers are doing with our software.

STACK Construction Technologies: In the mid-1990s while working in the construction industry, my son Justin (then only 15) and I put together an estimating software program that we called Buildware Pro. Originally targeting the commercial roofing industry, Buildware Pro allowed you to measure paper plans using a digitizer, or even on your computer screen if you had a digital PDF or TIF file. We enjoyed success from the very beginning and by the time Justin was 17 we had sold 1/2 a million dollars' worth of our construction software! Measuring on screen led me to a new idea… one where GCs could distribute plans in digital form to their subs and suppliers, via the Internet. During the same time frame my friends Al and Tracy Battle had started the first ever "Internet Plan Room" and partnered with the AGC in Atlanta to distribute plans for public projects to subs and suppliers in that market. Al, Tracy and I put our companies together and iSqFt.com was born.

Pricing/cost comparison

The real cost of Construction software includes the software license, subscription fees, software training cost, customization cost, required hardware, and the cost of maintenance & support and other related services. It's critical that you account for all of these costs to gain an understanding of the system's "total cost of ownership". We prepared a total cost calculator for BIM 360 TCO and STACK Estimating total cost to help with the total cost of ownership calculation.

BIM 360 price Starting from $29 per month , on a scale between 1 to 10 BIM 360 is rated 2, which is much lower than the average cost of Construction software. STACK Estimating price Starting from $999 per license , when comparing STACK Estimating to their competitors, the software is rated 2 - much lower than the average Construction software cost.
