Bentley vs. Alternatives in 2023

Some of the major competitors for Bentley are Viewpoint Vista and Procore.

Viewpoint Vista is a solution for construction companies that can be deployed on premise as well as in the cloud. Its main features include accounting, employee management, estimation & bidding, project management as well as customer service. The product is based on workflows and includes a documentation system that can handle construction information as well as design drawings. Project teams also have access to a collaboration platform to share information, access work schedules, as well as update project status.

Bentley also provides a similar solution, but it can be customized to meet the company’s requirements and process flows. Additionally the product supports a variety of construction projects such as bid to build, design to build, and bid to lease among others. Bentley is web based and can handle sub- contractors, quality review inspections, environmental compliance as well as change orders & custom requirements. Additionally it has a financial module to handle budgeting, funding and accounting requirements.

Procore in comparison offers APIs for integration with multiple third party applications, but unlike Bentley integrates to Sage 300 for financial management. Additionally the product provides mobility solutions for remote construction teams and is offered only as a cloud based solution. However it also includes features for employee time tracking & scheduling as well as contract management to handle legal obligations.

Bentley supports many of these features but currently only integrates with Microsoft Project for planning requirements. Additionally the product is workflow based and supports conditional alerting to ensure proactive actions by project teams to avoid unnecessary delays in delivery.
