What is Solidworks?

Solidworks is a cloud-based Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software to help businesses manage their resources efficiently. Solidworks has all the necessary features for resource planning such as production planning, BI, EDI, CRM, purchasing, and accounting. It also has tools that can help you communicate and track with various business entities, such as supply chain management.

However, the main modules in Enterprise IQ are warehouse management, manufacturing ERP, supply chain management, and quality management. Solidworks is suitable for all organizations sizes. Be it a small organization or an enterprise, Solidworks fits the needs of all audience sizes. Solidworks is, although a cloud-based tool, an on-premises Desktop version is also available.

The Desktop version is available for both Linux and Windows. However, there is no mobile app or mobile view available for Solidworks. Solidworks ensures that all quality standards are mentioned in the tool to make the right decision.

Solidworks was developed by IQMS. IQMS was founded in 1989 in Paso Robles, California, United States. IQMS is a private entity with around 500 employees working on various ERP-related products.

Solidworks is one of the many enterprises and supply chain management tools by IQMS. However, IQMS was recently acquired by Dassault Systemes. Hence, IQMS is now known as DelmiaWorks, specifically tailored to factory resource management needs.

Who is it best for?

Solidworks has been designed specifically for the manufacturing industry and includes sectors such as Aerospace & Defence, Automotive & Assembly manufacturing, General manufacturing, as well as Medical manufacturing to name a few. Customers for Solidworks include Accessible Technologies Inc, AcroTech Plastics Group, C. Brewer, Core Systems, Donnelly Custom Manufacturing, Lakeland Finishing Corporation and United Lens Company.
