Epicor Retail vs. Alternatives in 2023

The main competitors for Epicor Retail Management Suite are Microsoft RMS and Lightspeed.

Microsoft RMS provides a retail management system for multi-store operations that includes two modules, with one to handle the headquarters and the other for individual store operations. Its main features include point of sales, product pricing & inventory management, as well as customer management. There is also support for customer loyalty programs with redemption options redeemable at any POS unit in the store. The product is also device independent and can interface with most leading POS hardware.

Epicor Retail Management supports these core features but also includes options for web stores for online shopping requirements, merchandise planning based on customer demand, as well as product sourcing & lifecycle management. Additional options include mobile POS and business analytics to analyze retail operations & performance.

Then there is Lightspeed which is a cloud based solution and is designed to work on devices using the Apple platform. While its supports many of the features of Epicor Retail Management, it also integrates with Quickbooks for accounting requirements. Additionally its sales module can generate quotations based on customer requirements while also including various discounting & pricing level structures. It also supports a Product Matrix which is useful for apparel operations to mix & match different combinations based on style requirements.

While Epicor Retail Management does not fully support these features, it is offered as an on premise, hosted as well as cloud based solution. There is also an audit solution to validate retail operations with support for employee sales commissions & incentives as well.
