It provides cloud based solutions which focus on increasing productivity through collaboration platforms that cover employees, customers and vendors, who together form social communities that improve marketing, sales and service provision.

The company was formed in February 2001 by Bill Lynch and Matt Tucker and is based in Palo Alto, California. With nearly 700 employees it continues to grow and Gartner has confirmed it in the leaders quadrant of its 2013 Magic Quadrant for Social Software in the Workplace.

ShoreTel Sky is a business VOIP service provider which operates in the cloud. It can handle both business voice communications as well contact center management. Employees can utilize their virtual extensions on a variety of devices including mobile devices, and there is a collaboration platform to share information amongst different teams. The product also offers unified communications by integrating various channels into one inbox, and it can be integrated to other customer enterprise applications as well.

Jive PBX on the other hand provides a similar VOIP solution with options for internet faxing and interactive voice response. The product also offers three types of call monitoring with “Spy” allowing invisible monitoring, “Whisper” letting supervisors talk to agents without the customer knowing, as well as “Barge” where managers can intervene if the agent cannot address the customer’s issue successfully.

Then there is Vonage Business Solutions which provides all the basic VOIP call management features. Additional options include call recording, conferencing, as well as voicemail text transcription which can then be sent as an email to an assigned user. The product also provides plugins which can connect it to a variety of services and applications, and these can be developed if needed for other connectivity requirements.

While Jive PBX does not provide all of these features, it does support workflow automation for call routing while enabling product customization to meet business processes. It also has a separate module to handle the voice management requirements of contact centers.
