Jonas Construction Software (JCS) offers a business management solution for construction contractors. The product includes project & service management, accounting, document management, inventory as well as payroll.

JCS has been providing solutions for the construction sector for over twenty years. The company’s products aim to help construction contractors to streamline their operations, improve the profitability of their jobs, while providing them with critical business information to help them make better decisions.

Who is it best for?

JCS is focused exclusively on the needs of contractors for the construction sector that include General Contractors as well as HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Mechanical and other Specialty Trades. The product is scalable and is offered as two versions with the on premise solution offered for Enterprise customers. The cloud based solution however is offered to small and medium sized companies and requires minimal technology investment and no software maintenance, which is suited for these companies as they are looking for a cost effective solution which can be rapidly deployed.

In addition the product offers an integrated business management software suite which can address all the main players in a contracting company. JCS can aid owners of contracting companies to have clear visibility on operations, projects & finances so that they can make informed and better business decisions. Also with the integration of Financials & Payroll the Finance department can ensure effective financial controls & monitoring while ensuring staff compensation is done on a timely basis. Finally construction project managers are able to track performance and view in real time, variances between estimated & actual costs so that they are able to run more efficient & cost effective contracting jobs.

Main features and functionalities

JCS Core Modules include an Accounting module which covers General Ledger, Accounts Receivables & Payables as well as Fixed Assets. There is also an integrated Payroll module for timely payroll generation, with support for Time & Attendance as well as remote logging of contractor timesheets. The product allows contractors to manage Inventory, track Equipment for location, maintenance & cost with a Tool Crib for locating small tools, as well as procurement for requisition orders based on inventory reorder levels. JCS also supports mobile device access of the application so that remote staff and managers can access the system from anywhere for both monitoring and updating in real time.

There is a Service Management Toolkit which is focused on service based contractors with support for the entire work order management cycle from creation, tracking to fulfillment. Additionally this toolkit provides a Dispatch Scheduler for allocation of service technicians, remote work order management through mobile devices, a customer portal for customers to track job status, maintenance contract management, as well as support for contract time & billing.

Then there is a Project Management Toolkit which is suited for contracting projects and supports the full cycle from bidding, implementation to completion. The toolkit supports job costing & scheduling, project workflow management, construction costing & progress billing, change order management and subcontractor support. Both the Service & Project Management Toolkits are seamlessly integrated with the other modules in the product.

JCS also includes a library of standard reports as well as a Report Designer for customized reports. Additionally there is a Data Mart which offers detailed analytics for trend & performance analysis. Finally there is a fully fledged Document Management system which electronically files all documents related to jobs, provides a document audit trail, as well as scanning options to digitize any paper based documents.
