Prices and Plans Compared

monday.com follows a complicated pricing regime which can be a turn off for some users. While there are subscription plans available, it also offers pricing based on team size and users.

The free plan of monday.com is good for up to 2 users. You get unlimited boards and docs, and can use over 200 templates. The free version also lets you use the iOS and Android mobile apps. This is basically a good free CRM for individuals or teams of 2 people. After that, it is time to upgrade.

All of their pricing is based on 2 variables: the features you would like to use, and the number of users. Once you have determined the feature plan and users, choose your subscription payment preference: month-to-month or annual plans are available. Payment is made in one upfront installment (if you purchase a plan for one year, you will pay for one year upfront).

For five people, the Basic plan starts at $62.50 per month and includes 5GB of storage, an unlimited number of boards, and 24/7 support. The Basic plan has significant limitations. You dont get Timelines, Calendar views, Map views, advanced search, time tracking, or other features that Monday.com considers advanced. You dont even get integrations.

Standard pricing begins at $85 per month for five people. It expands the storage capacity to 50GB. Outside guests can be invited to join your board, but they count against your member allotment at a 4-to-1 ratio. To put it another way, four invited guests count as one member. Standard includes the Timeline, Calendar, and Map views that the Basic plan does not.

Pro starts at $150 per month for five people. Storage is unlimited and you get all features except a few that are reserved for Enterprise customers (such as single sign-on, HIPAA compliance, and audit logs). The allowance for integrations and automation goes up to 25,000 actions per month. Enterprise accounts use custom pricing and include all features.

A direct competitor of monday.com is Trello. Additionally, a free service tier is available. The monthly cost for the Business Class paid plan is $12.50 per person. Trello also provides an Enterprise subscription, and its website has an interactive calculator you can use to estimate the cost of it based on the number of users in your organization.

Which Plan Is Right for You?

Monday.com is a great project management tool depending on the requirements of your organization. If your organization has basic project management needs or you need a tool for individual task management, the Individual plan will be the right fit.

However, if your organization requires more team collaboration along with project management, then the later plans like the Business and Pro plans can be the right pricing plan. Moreover, given the competitors pricing plan, the cost of Monday.com is more and less the same.

Compared to Jira Basic plan, Monday.com Individual plan does not allow any email automation, which can make task management difficult.

Our Veredict

In terms of work management tools, monday.com performs admirably. It is relatively simple to use and has some useful features that stand out.

Additionally, it can be challenging to determine which service tier you would require and whether you will end up spending too much for it due to monday.com complex price structure (because you might not need all the licenses you need to pay for).
