Nextiva is an American company founded in 2006. Headed by Thomas Gorny, the firm was able to develop products such as Nextiva Office, Connect and vFax. Nextiva’s main competitors are Vonage Business Solutions and ShoreTel Sky.

Vonage Business Solutions provides a comprehensive VOIP solution with a cloud based PBX that requires no equipment at a company’s premises. It functions as a normal phone exchange with call management features such as transfer, screening, waiting, forwarding, voicemail and conferencing to mention a few. It allows remote access from anywhere and includes a virtual receptionist as well. Additionally it supports voicemail to email for certain plans and also includes integration with mobile phones.

Nextiva provides a similar VOIP solution but extends it to support a hosted call center and integration with broadband internet & faxing as well. Additionally it has a feature to combine voice, video and instant messaging into one application which is then accessible from any internet enabled device including mobile phones. Nextiva also provides companies with a choice of several cloud enabled phones as an option to be included with their VOIP package.

Then there is ShoreTel Sky which provides integration options to business applications such as ERP & CRM systems where client communication management is required. Additionally the product supports unified communications allowing users to start their conversations on any device and continue it on another one without any integration issues. It also supports Business Intelligence tools for reporting and call analysis to enhance client communications.

Nextiva while not fully supporting these features currently does provide another unique option. This is its Drive solution with allows cloud based backup of files, which includes device real-time syncing and encrypted data transfer technologies as well.
