Symantec Brightmail Message Filter 6-1 SDK vs. Alternatives in 2023

Two major competitors of Symantec BrightMail are QuickHeal Endpoint Security and F-Secure Client Security. Compared to Symantec BrightMail, QuickHeal offers more endpoint protection and management features. For instance, endpoint protection features of QuickHeal that are not available on BrightMail include device monitoring, email attachment scanning, endpoint firewall, and safe browsing.

In the management features, QuickHeal offers additional features of application control and granular security policy. On the other hand, cloud based scanning is an important protection feature of BrightMail that is not offered by QuickHeal. Automated client updates are also missing from QuickHeal.

F-Secure offers a similar set of features when compared with BrightMail, although there are a few minor difference. For example, in the endpoint protection module, F-Secure offers device monitoring and email attachment scanning, both of which are not available on BrightMail. Conversely, two endpoint protection features of BrightMail that are absent from F-Secure are cloud based scanning and trusted network detection.

In the management features, both solutions offer automatic client updates and email filtering control. However, unlike BrightMail, F-Secure also offers web filtering and applications. But the services of remote software installation, remote software updates, and web based management are not available on F-Secure.
