Practice Velocity Review

From the basement of an urgent care clinic to a 230-employee company, Practice threedoctorsVelocity has experienced tremendous growth in its 12-year history. The company was founded in 2002 by urgent care physicians David Stern, MD, CPC; John Koehler, MD, FACEP; and Terry Buzzard, MD, FACEP, looking to improve their own urgent care center operations. After extensive research revealed a lack of electronic medical record and practice management software designed for urgent care, the three physicians collaborated with a team of programmers to design and launch their first service, a modified EMR template, PiVoTs. PiVoTs was launched in six clinics, with additional clinics added within the next two years. As the company grew, there was an apparent need for additional services. In 2006, Practice Velocity introduced PVMSM practice management software. Just one year later, PV Billing services were offered to clients using PVM software. Practice Velocity’s innovation in the field of urgent care services continued in 2009 when the company unveiled VelociDoc™, an electronic medical record for urgent care and occupational medicine centers. As of 2014, 99 percent of Practice Velocity clients use VelociDoc EMR.
