Storage Distributed Resource Scheduler vs. Alternatives in 2024

Two major competitors of SDRS are BixData and vOptimizer Pro. BixData is only designed for small and medium businesses and thus its features are not extensive as SDRS and other major visualization solutions. Even though it offers all three modules of availability, configuration, and performance management, these are only single feature module.

Configuration module offers the sole feature of inventory management. Similarly, the only feature of performance management module is real time capacity monitoring. Availability features are restricted to proactive availability monitoring. However, this software offers reporting features of availability reports, capacity reports, and performance reports, none of which is available on SDRS.

vOptimizer Pro offers only performance and reporting features. The most important difference between this software and SDRS is the absence of availability and configuration modules on it. Its performance features do not include memory ballooning, real time capacity monitoring, and VM sprawl control.

An edge that vOptimizer has over SDRS is that it offers two reporting features of automatic showback and capacity reports. In comparison, SDRS does not offer any reporting capabilities. There are no security services on vOptimizer, although it offers extensive support options.
