GMS Accounting vs. Alternatives in 2024

The major competitors for GMS Accounting are Fund E-Z Nonprofit Accounting Software and AccuFund Nonprofit Accounting Software.

Fund E-Z Nonprofit Accounting Software provides a fund accounting solution for nonprofit organizations. Its features include core accounting such as general ledger, receivables and payables, reconciliation, as well as budgeting. Other options include support for sales & purchasing, allocations and financial auditing, with facilities to integrate with payroll services as well. Fund E-Z also has a module to manage fundraising activities which can be easily integrated with the accounting software, and the solution is currently available as an on premise solution.

GMS Accounting on the other hand also handles financial management for nonprofits like Fund E-Z, but unlike it has no option to manage fundraising activities. While it includes the same core accounting features, it also has options to handle fixed assets, time & expense management, as well as loans & grants. The product also supports limited customization of the software to meet specific financial process needs.

Then there is AccuFund Nonprofit Accounting Software which offers both mobility solutions and a cloud based delivery model. It can handle a variety of payment processing methods including online and via mobiles, as well as periodic based donations. Additionally there are features to handle tax & financial reporting requirements with options to electronically file tax returns directly with the appropriate authorities.

While GMS Accounting can handle most of these features, it does not support tax compliance at the current time. However it can be deployed as both an on premise as well as hosted solution.
