Datacor Chempax vs. Alternatives in 2024

Plex Online is a cloud based solution that addresses both discrete and process manufacturing, and can be scaled to all sizes of business. It is focused on the management and automation of the shop floor processes and includes modules for Finance, Customer & Sales Management, Inventory & Production Management, Quality Management as well as Supply Chain Management. Additionally the product allows customers to customize it according to business requirements and is available as a cloud based solution.

Chempax on the other hand does not address the discrete manufacturing sector, and focuses specifically on the requirements for the chemical manufacturing & processing sector unlike Plex Online. While the solution is also scalable for any business size, it is not currently offered as a cloud based solution and is only available as an on premise solution. Additionally Chempax also incorporates industry practices specific to the chemical sector so that manufacturers can begin operations quicker, and with better performance that other more generic ERP vendors.

These ERP vendors include the likes of SAP & Epicor who also provide process manufacturing solutions as well, but it is generally accepted that they do not offer the depth of functionality or industry fit that Chempax offers in the chemical sector. This includes support for Certificate of Analysis, Material Resource Planning, Recipe Based Manufacturing, Quality Control & Production Formulas, as well as Finite Capacity & Batch Scheduling. Additionally Chempax supports integration with a number of industry specific process control devices such as QC and Laboratory equipment. However Chempax does not provide full support for third party software integration.
