Solarwinds Web Helpdesk addresses the support ticket management process. The product is workflow based and can be customized to meet business requirements. Additionally there is a knowledge base which can be used by help desk clients to address commonly faced issues, as well as a technical knowledge base which can be used by support technicians for issue history & resolution. The product can also manage IT assets including history, warranties and service issues, as well as provide a complete inventory of items.

BMC Track-it on the other hand provides a similar product that includes service level agreements which govern the type and level of support to be provided to customers. The product’s asset management module includes software license management, purchase history, rental equipment, as well as change management to track modifications done to either hardware or software.

Then there is Web Tracks which addresses most of these features but is available as an on premise solution.
