Typical Customers

TurboCAD is most suitable for medium businesses, although it can also be used in large enterprises if the project budget does not exceed too much. The software is mainly intended for engineering and construction firms, architects, home production builders, civil engineers and similar areas.

Industries in which TurboCAD has found increasing deployment include civil and electrical engineering, aerospace, AEC, and automotive etc. The software can fulfill almost all the 3D modeling needs of your project such as analysis, modeling, simulation, and documentation etc.

Some noteworthy customers of the software include Pat Teaford - Nitro Street, PlanRoom Central, Avalon Design Services Limited, and Textual Creations etc.

Features

Like other major 3D modeling and simulation solutions, TurboCAD follows the modular architecture and presents a wide range of applications and tools for various related aspects. In the assembly modeling module of the software, you have the features of 2D drawing, 3D solid modeling, advanced surfacing, mold design, parametric modeling, and direct modeling etc.

Sheet metal design features of the software include hole tables, placement sketches, and punch tables. For animation management, the software offers the features of assembly animation, photorealistic images, rendering, and walkthrough animations.

Productivity features of TurboCAD include archiving and sharing, command line, copy details, design-model consistency, and virtual parts library. Architecture related features such as construction modeling, elevation, landscaping tools, and surveying tools are also part of the complete modeling package. Finally, the software also offers various documentation and drafting applications.

TurboCAD Pro Platinum 5 Pros

  • There are various plug-ins which you can use in addition to the core features of the software. This includes beam analysis tool and hatch pattern creator.
  • Other than detailed 3D modeling and simulation, the software also offers a separate module for 2D modeling.
  • Area specific features part of the software includes an entire module for architecture.
  • A separate module for the documentation needs of the project is available.
  • Wide range of writable and readable file formats is supported by the software.

TurboCAD Pro Platinum 2 Cons

  • Area specific part of the software does not include any module for electrical features.
  • Drafting standards of the software cover only ISO standard and not ASME, JIS and others.

Competitors & Alternatives

Two major competitors of TurboCAD are SolidWorks and SpaceClaim. SolidWorks offers more extensive design and modeling features compared to TurboCAD, although it has less area specific features and no separate module for architecture feature. In the design features, additional features of SolidWorks include conceptual design, electrical cable and conduit design, and fastening systems. It also offers extra features in the surfacing and sheet metal design modules.

Animation and analysis features on both solutions are quite similar. Another difference is that the module of cost estimation is not offered by TurboCAD. On the other hand, module for architecture features is missing from SolidWorks.

The other competitor, SpaceClaim, offers very similar modeling and design features when compared with TurboCAD, with the exception of two features. These two features are conceptual design and electrical conduit design and both are not offered by TurboCAD. Conversely, simulation and productivity features of SpaceClaim are less than those offered by TurboCAD.

In the area specific part, SpaceClaim offers a module for electrical features. TurboCAD, on the other hand, offers architecture module in the same part. Documentation and animation features on both solutions are quite similar.
