Smarsheet is an online project management and collaboration software for all business types and sizes. Its key features include budget management, client portal, Gantt charts, milestone tracking, workflow management, and more. Smartsheet was founded in 2005 and has now up to 5,000 employees.

It is headquartered in Bellevue, Washington. It is duly recognized as 2015 Google Marketplace App of the Year, 2015 Microsoft O365 App of the Year, and Gartner Cool Vendor 2015 for Project and Portfolio Management category.

Major industries where it can be used include education, financial services, retail and wholesale, government, automation and manufacturing, and others. Smartsheet Features

Core project management services of the software include monitoring of cross project dependencies, calendars, project hierarchies, scheduling, project templates, and interactive Gantt charts. It offers collaboration services of group and team creation, document management, and instant messaging. For effective task management, the software offers stakeholder assignment, groping of tasks by projects, and to-do lists.

Smartsheet offers resource management capabilities of resource need forecasting, role based permissions, and allocation of resources by skill sets. Other important capabilities include customizable dashboard, resource and financial reports, creation of budget, expense management, custom user interface, and others.

Smartsheet Alternatives

Kintone is a cloud-based project management platform for all business sizes and at same price ranges as Smartsheet. Both are flexible when it comes to platform supported (web,iPhone,and Android) and customer care support (phone, online, knowledge base and tutorial). Kintone has almost the same features with Smartsheet except approval process control, configurable workflow, and role-based permissions.

Both have excellent vendor reputation and are beneficial as a project management and collaboration system. Trello is a visual task management and collaboration software for small to large enterprises.

However, Trello pricing is cheaper than Smartsheet which is $5 a month. When features are being compared, Smartsheet offers more functions than Trello like collaborative workspace, Gantt Charts, collaboration tools, and more. Both have high customer reviews online but Smartsheet offers more tools than Trello which is more focused on task monitoring only.

Smartsheet Pricing Information

Smartsheet pricing is lower than the average cost of project management software. SmartSheet has four plans where price increases as the number of sheets, collaborators, and portal increases. Individual plan is $14 for 10 collaborators, can create 10 sheets, generate five reports, and access to one portal. Business plan is $25 per user per month for unlimited collaborators and 100 sheets per user.

Enterprise and Premier have unlimited number of collaborators and sheets. All plans allow users to attach documents, send email alerts, write comments, deploy Gantt chart, and display calendar. It also has solutions for seamless workflow such as templates, columns, forms, and customized color and logo. It has integrations (for additional fee) with iOS, Android, Microsoft Office365, Skype, Jira, and more.
